Why We Are Democrats
We are Democrats because we believe in helping those in need. We have a moral obligation to help those less fortunate. We are committed to expanding opportunity to every Mississippian.
We are Democrats because we believe in equality for all people, regardless of their race or religion.
We are Democrats because we fervently believe in tolerance. Tolerance is critical in our diverse society.
We are Democrats because we hold sacred freedom of the press, as well as free speech.
We are Democrats because we recognize that education is essential to the success of Mississippi’s youth. We support fully funding our education system and enacting important education reforms.
We are Democrats because we believe in the rights of women. For too long, women have been the victims of discrimination and we must target programs to help equalize the sexes.
We are Democrats because we believe a healthy economy depends on good jobs at good wages.
We are Democrats because we believe in a strong military; strong for the purpose of keeping our nation safe, not for the utilization of unjust wars.
We are Democrats because we believe in public support of the arts. For the sake of our posterity, we must support culture and arts of our homeland.
We are Democrats because we support the conservation of our environment. We have only one country and one world.
Finally, we are Democrats because we believe in the words and principles written in the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. That is our commitment to a better America.
